Sunderland Safeguarding Children Partnership (SSCP) aims to keep professionals informed of the latest local developments that may affect their work and practice.

Relationships with other key partnerships

The SSCP must work with other partnerships across the safeguarding system to achieve its objectives.

Health and Wellbeing Board (HWBB) - The Health and Social Care Act 2012 creates a common flexible framework, by requiring the establishment of a health and wellbeing board for every upper tier local authority. The ambition behind the introduction of health and wellbeing boards is to build strong and effective partnerships, which improve the commissioning and delivery of services across NHS and local government, (and for children, Education settings) leading in turn to improved health and wellbeing for local people. HWBBs provide a sense of place, bringing together the key health and social care commissioners.

Safeguarding Adult Board (SAB) - The SSAB is the multi-agency partnership with responsibility for safeguarding adults at risk of abuse or neglect.  Their latest safeguarding leaflet can be viewed here

Safer Sunderland Partnership (SSP) - The Safer Sunderland Partnership is tackling crime, disorder, fear of crime and substance misuse to ensure that everyone in Sunderland is, and feels, safe and secure.

Sunderland Domestic Violence Partnership (SDVP) - The Sunderland Domestic Violence Partnership is a key delivery and improvement partnership of the Safer Sunderland Partnership (SSP). The SDVP co-ordinates and oversees delivery of those aspects of the Safer Sunderland Strategy and delivery plan that relate to domestic violence and abuse. It also contributes towards tackling other forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG).

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass directly connects the police with schools to secure better outcomes for children who are subject or witness to police-attended incidents of domestic abuse. Rapid provision of support within the school environment means children are better safeguarded against the short, medium and long-term effects of domestic abuse.
