Domestic Abuse Practitioner Standard for Northumbria Level 1 Training

The session will raise participants’ knowledge and understanding of the nature and impact of domestic abuse. Open to those who live, work or study in Sunderland.
Both the Level 1 and Level 2 courses have been developed in partnership with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) Northumbria.
The course is suitable for anyone who may come into contact with victims/survivors of domestic abuse as part of their role (paid or unpaid). This course will help you identify different types of abuse, how it impacts on people and what support is available.
The learner will:
- Know the Government definition of domestic violence and abuse
- Explore the different types of abusive behaviours used by perpetrators of domestic violence and abuse
- Comprehend the impact of domestic violence and abuse on victims and survivors
- Know the prevalence of domestic violence and abuse
- Recognise the myths relating to the causes of domestic violence and abuse
- Explore how discrimination in society contributes to the experience and impact of domestic violence and abuse
- Know the specialist support services and interventions available for victims, children and perpetrators
